How Single Mothers Help Sons Gain Self Esteem ?
Children who grow with both parents are more confident than those who grow with single parents. This has been scientifically proven. Children, who grow up with single parents, tend to be unsure about themselves and also have an introverted nature. They are generally low on self esteem and confidence, and are very afraid of facing rejection from their peers. |
However, if you are single mother, you now help your son gain the required self esteem to be a success in life. It is important that you son feels loved and appreciated by you. Also, you need to play a supporting role in your son's life rather than trying to make all the decisions for him. He has to learn to make mistakes and take responsibility for them. You should be protecting him. This will cause more harm than good.
Also, allow a male person in your son's life to become his role model. This person can be a grandfather, uncle, cousin, teacher or anyone who is closely associated with yours and your son's life. Also, give your son the freedom to choose his own friends. Of course, you should be checking from the background that the friends do not have a negative impact on your son. In addition, teach your son the importance of being compassionate, appreciative, and respectful towards other human beings. It is also imperative that you do not let your opinion about the male race influence your son's attitude.
Be supportive when he wants to join activities that do not involve you. This way he will not go through guilt about leaving you alone at home. Try to have an open communication with him so that there is always honesty between you no matter what has happened. This way he will not feel ashamed to approach you when he makes mistakes in life. Also, it will help him to take responsibility for his actions.
