Which Religions Accept Homosexuality
:
Islam:
Islam is crystal clear about the subject of homosexuality. According to Islam’s belief, the act of homosexuality is ‘sinful”. Holy Koran refers to homosexuality as a profound mistake. Islam believes that homosexuality is not in the nature of mankind, but it is the product of his environments.
Although Islam agrees that homosexuality is sinful, they differ in the term of penalty.
Buddhism:
Buddhism does not explicitly talk about homosexuality in the Buddha’s discourse. Even the most respected leader of a Buddhist sect like the Dalai Lama is ambiguous on the subject of homosexuality.
Buddhism generally does not condemn the act of homosexuality. In fact, Buddhism tends to be very friendly toward homosexuality. Many Buddhist countries like Thailand, Burma, and Sri Lanka don’t have law against homosexuality between consenting adults.
Judaism:
Judaism is a very diverse religion. Different Judaism usually can not agree on any controversial issues, including homosexuality. In fact, it is impossible to find single definitive Jewish policy on homosexuality. Some Jewish believe that homosexual acts was not clearly understood at the time the Bible was written. On the other hands, there are other Jewish who believe that Torah clearly prohibit homosexuality.
Christianity:
Christianity is the most practiced religion in the world. Like Judaism, Christianity has many congregation and denominations like Catholic, Anglican, and Uniting Church, etc. Although Christianity may agree to accept homosexual persons, they are not clear on the moral status. There are some Christian organisation like the Quaker that openly welcome homosexual persons. On the other hands, there are many denominations that are clearly against homosexuality acts.
